My name is Czeska Barnowski – pronounced like “Sesca.” Not sure why my mother decided to add the ‘z’ since it always confuses people. I’m a photographer based in Airdrie, Alberta & Ottawa, Ontario mainly focused on documentary, portraits and events. My work has been published in THIS Magazine, CBC Ottawa, airdrie life magazine and Neighbours Along 8th Street.
My photography journey started the same as most people - being the family photographer at gatherings. Which is why I prefer capturing simple and candid moments. Those moments can vary from being loving, funny, heartbreaking, exciting, scary and so much more. If you have the ability to capture such things, why would you not?
Other than photography, my “every day job” (well except during the summer) is working as a teacher. I love teaching kids and encouraging their skills and growth mindset. I also enjoy volunteering my services for local businesses and photographed for the Ottawa Humane Society and the dog rescue Bullies In Need in Ottawa. My Golden Retriever/Collie and 4 year old daughter are a dynamic duo that keeps me busy and laughing. My wonderful geek of a husband keeps me fed. My beautiful Korra is watching over us and patiently waiting for our reunion. Watching Arsenal FC play makes me both happy and stressed but I still for the life of me call them my team. Another form of art I love is music and I can play drums, guitar, ukulele and sing an occasional karaoke song.
I have been fortunate enough in my life to capture beautiful moments for people and I look forward to helping tell your story.
